Hello! I’m a bit busy today, I going to fit some voile curtains I have made. The window is a difficult shape to dress and took a lot of time even getting to this stage. Anyway, if I remember to take my camera I will photograph the results so I can show you. I do love making curtains, I was taught to make them from scratch when I was just 21 year’s old. Since learning how to hand stitch linings in place I have really come to appreciate the feel of lined fabric, weighted in each corner and seam, so they hang perfectly. I love every hand sewn stitch I put into them, the only machining is done at the top when the heading is added, I could even hand stitch that bit but the heading tapes you can get often do a better job. Mind you, I much prefer to make curtains for smaller windows these days, perhaps that is why I am attracted to cottages with sash windows…. I am really looking forward to making curtains for the home that Barry and I will eventually be living in……soon?
We had a great time at the weekend in Devon, it was a shame the weather was so…erm….wet! Still I got the fix I needed on my girls. Barry took loads of wonderful photos of the opening of the new River Taw Bridge yesterday. It was such a shame the weather was so bad as there were lots of events going on along the bridge, Barry, Jez and Maddie went out for some fun and managed to dodge the rain for the most part. Emilia had been suffering with a tummy bug and Ali was in some pain from the ligament problem she has when pregnant so I stayed with them and we watched ‘Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure’….hey dude it was ex cell ent!
This is a shrug I made for Ali out of the RYC Mother and Baby Book. Unfortunately, it was to big for her but I altered it using Ali’s sewing machine and now it fits fine, which is a relief as I didn’t fancy re knitting this one with all those bobbles and cables!
Time to get the day going…..TTFN!
